Year 489 was a common year starting on Sunday. This year marked the fifth year of the Pendragon Campaign.
Events
Cornwall
- The Knights of the Sword accompanied Earl Roderick, Duke Ulfius, and King Uther to Cornwall, in order to make war upon Duke Gorlois and force his submission to the crown.
- The forces assembled were nearly equal, and the terrain of the field favored Cornwall's forces. Even a victory would have been a slaughter of Uther's forces.
- Uther and Gorlois shouted to each other and agreed to parlay, meeting in the middle of the field. Uther brought Ulfius and Roderick, who each brought a few escorts of their own. The Knights of the Sword accompanied Roderick, and three sinister looking figures accompanied Ulfius, glaring at Roderick the whole time. Gorlois was joined by several of his own knights and vassals.
- Uther drew Excalibur and, with the aid of Merlin, agreed to terms with Gorlois. The battle was cancelled as peace was now the order of the day.
Somerset
- On the way home, the Knights found a town called Streamford which was being plagued by some sort of curse.
- After some investigation, they discovered that the cause was a rogue redcap that had escaped into the human world.
- They set traps with the villagers, and successfully captured the fae, bringing him back to a small lake with a hidden island.
- As they rafted to the island, the water turned to blood, and they made their way through the portal to the Other Side.
- They met Ratat, a Fae King of a small neutral kingdom and partook in his hospitality. They were allowed to leave afterwards, with no geas upon them to stay in the fae world.
- A week had passed in the few hours they spent there, and they returned home successful in this small quest.
