Sir Blains is the steward of Levcomagus, and the right-hand man of Duke Ulfius of Silchester. One of Ulfius's most trusted soldiers, Sir Blains operates Levcomagus as a buffer state of sorts between Salisbury and Silchester itself, allowing Duke Ulfius greater flexibility in sending his own levies out without worrying about aggression from his smaller neighbor. Blains was promised the hand of the Lady Ellen, the sister of Duke Ulfius, but she was wooed away by Earl Roderick of Salisbury, who married her in secret and took her back to Sarum.
Personality
Sir Blains is a bitter, angry man who is known to hold long and fierce grudges against those he feels have wronged him. He thinks that his substantial wealth makes him better than others and has no issue with voicing this opinion, loudly, to any who will listen.
Important Deeds of Note
In the winter of 490, Sir Blains sent raiding parties into Salisbury and kidnapped several people, including the cousin of Dame Runa. In addition, he spread vile rumors about Sir Alaric, in an attempt to weaken the position of the Knights of the Sword, seeing them as the primary defenders of Salisbury.
In 492, Sir Blains was captured by the Knights of the Sword as he led a raiding party into the lands of Sir Oswulf.
