In 487 the Ursine Brotherhood were sent to Eburacum to negotiate with King Heraut and propose an alliance. Heraut was standoffish to the ambassadors, angered by their insolence and the arrogance of King Uther Pendragon. As a token of his displeasure, Heraut gave the young knights a Saxon axe to present to their leader, an insulting gesture meant to show Uther that Malahaut was not about to consider an alliance as he wanted the throne of Britain for himself.
In 489, the Ursine Brotherhood once again traveled to Eburacum and spoke with the King of the Hundred Knights, though Uther was present at this meeting. Heraut was enscorcelled under the power of Excalibur and pledged an alliance with Uther quite easily.

In 493, Earl Roderick of Salisbury led the Ursine Brotherhood to Malahaut to negotiate the terms of the alliance with King Heraut. Heraut was cagey, rude, and standoffish, refusing to meet or discuss the terms. The Ursine Order split up to investigate, finding evidence that the King of Malahaut was conspiring with the Saxons King Octa and King Eosa to attack King Uther Pendragon, rumored to be ill at the time. Bringing this information to Roderick, the knights escaped an ambush and fought off many of the Saxon's scouts on the way back to Logres to successfully warn King Uther of the betrayal.
