Datha features many mountain valleys.

Home plane for Jaxson, Grodd, and Marby Fizzlesprocket.

The known regions are a series of smallish autonomous kingdoms and free cities.

Locations

Places to go.

The Ezethaean Valley

The Realm of Ezethae

Ruled by Jaxson's family, and nestled in the river valley north of the Cobalt Forest. It is east of Fairmond and Silvermist.

It is lined by sheer mountain cliffs to the north, and the territory claimed by Ezethae tapers off into the Cobalt Forest, though that land is rarely used by the kingdom. To the east it borders the Sea of Ajahn, and to the west there is a road leading into a neighboring region. The Mirthal River and port on the sea are important to trade for the Realm.

Ajahn's Cup Monastery

Vineyards and fields of wheat and hops surround this holy site dedicated to the god of harvests, trade, and good fortune. Ajahn's cup runneth over and spills cheer and glad tidings to all who seek him here.

A blue forest.

The Cobalt Forest

A wooded and hilly region. Peasants who live nearby refuse to enter, due to infestations of dangerous creatures (at least one bear has actually been reliably sighted) and reports of strange lights at night and other odd events. Many of the middle and upper classes in Ezethae consider this superstition on the part of the peasants, but also don't see any reason to enter the region.

Only in great desperation will hunters enter the forest to ply their trade.

All of the plant life here has taken on a strange bluish coloring. An old road runs south into the forest, but no one knows to where it would go. The road is in disrepair, but it has been noted that no large plants grow through the path it marks.

Hikari and Larissa entered Datha from a portal here.

Silverdale

Silvermist

A gnomish town in the Silver Creek Woods. It is west of Ezethae and south of Fairmond.

In the center of town lies the Silvermist Magical Academy, and the rest of the town circles it like a fairy ring. The academy is housed in the great stump of an enormous tree, preserved and enhanced by magic.

The Silver Creek that runs from the mountains to the west through to the Mirthal River is the source of the name of both the forest and the town. Once those mountains were mined for their silver, but the mines have since run dry.

Fairmond

A human and elf city north of Silvermist and west of Ezethae.

Jaxson may have upset some important people here recently.

Wise Oaks Grove

Forest east of Fairmond which is home to Pixie Fairies and Treants. Loggers cut some of the trees from the borders of the forest recently, angering the inhabitants.

Marin the Faceless.

The Shrine of Saint Dabius

Herein Lies Marin The Faceless
Cursed Be Their Name
May They Rest Here Forever
So That We Might Rest In Peace

A large upright stone set in a small clearing cut into the mountainside, open to the sky. The stone is marked by arcane and divine runes, and bears the inscription above. It is protected by powerful wards.

Jaxson recalled the story of a lifeless abomination who attempted to enslave the ancestors of the Ezethaeans and who was defeated by Saint Dabius, and sealed away. The location had been lost to history until stumbled upon by the party.

The Sunburnt Sea

To the west of the valley containing Silvermist and Fairmond lies this land of red sand and mesas. Home to nomadic peoples and the source of sporadic traders bearing gemstones and alchemical materials. Little is known of this land by the peoples to the east, save that it is harsh and desolate.

NPCs

People to meet.

Chancellor Vulmon

The Realm of Ezethae

The Royal Family, et al

  • Queen Tamia - Jaxson's mother, Queen of Ezethae. Her decision to marry an elf was somewhat controversial among the mostly human nobility at the time, but people have gotten over it by now.
  • Prince Jamvalor - Jaxson's father, Prince Consort of Ezethae. Noted elf.
  • Prince Jamenas - Jaxson's brother, Crown Prince of Ezethae. There was some concern that Jamenas was "too elvish" for the Ezethaean crown, but he continues to comport himself well, whilst his brother Jaxson has done his utmost to make Jamenas look really, really good to the nobility in comparison.
  • Chancellor Vulmon - A trusted adviser and right hand man to Queen Tamia. He immigrated to the kingdom many, many years ago and began working for the royal family as a clerk before Tamia was crowned. He has shown himself to be sharp of wit and loyal with a convert's zest to the family and kingdom he has served for so long.

Religious leaders

  • Abbot Norry - Abbot of Ajahn's Cup Monastery. One of the only respected figures in Ezethae to say of Jaxson that "[He] is coming along well enough, he just needs some time to age properly, like a fine liquor. Did I mention we have some new barrels made from trees out of the Wise Oaks Grove? This is going to be great in about ten years."
He heads the monastery/brewery in the middle of the realm. His teachings are most popular with the common folk of the kingdom.
  • Rector Aldis - Lead monk and teacher of the more ascetic branch of the clergy of Ezethae. He was a teacher to the Ezethaean princes as they were growing up. His strict discipline chaffed Jaxson greatly and helped shape him into the man he is today.
He heads the monastery in the northern mountains of the kingdom and the academy in the capital. His teachings are most popular with the merchants and nobility in the kingdom.

Other Nobility

  • Lady Nareema - Queen Tamia's younger sister. She rules their noble house (as separate from the Crown's holding) in Tamia's name.
  • Kapellmeister Sibyl - Minor nobility in her own right, but her primary claim to fame now is being in charge of the musical program at the Ezethaean church, and by extension, the Queen's own composer for any needs she may have.
Tabi Whizzlequaff

Silvermist

  • Tabi Whizzlequaff - Gnomish Wizard and mentor to Marby. Expert alchemist.

Known Portals

There is one known portal, which has recently been stabilized within the Cobalt Forest near some ancient ruins. It leads to a back alley in the Guildhall Ward of Sigil.

Deities

  • Ajahn - god of the harvest and plenty, luck, drink, and agriculture. Worshipped in Ezethae and by a few in Silverdale.
    • Stewards of the Land - Sect that believes that Ajahn has tasked his followers with stewardship over the land, their families/dependents, and ultimately their community. Abbot Norry is a popular exponent of this school of thought.
    • Order of the Scythe - Believes that Ajahn's primary task for his followers is to be stewards over themselves, and to cut away the weeds of their lives while encouraging and harvesting virtue. Rector Aldis heads this order.
  •  ??? - creator god and patron of the Gnomes. Worshipped in Silvermist and by most Gnomes found in other known locations.
  • Splint Chesthair - legendary ancestor-hero worshipped by Grodd and others in the lands east of the sea. Legend says he defeated a wizard and his army by dropping a mountain on them. Followers try to live by his example.
