Year 487 was a leap year starting on Friday. This year marked the fourth year of the Pendragon Campaign.

Events

Logres

  • At court, King Uther announced that he had answered the call of Praetor Syagrius and agreed to mobilize his forces in supports of Soissons.
  • Earl Roderick was at an impasse, and asked for the advice of his closest and most trusted knights on whether to stay behind in Logres, or go with Prince Madoc to Frankland.
  • The Knights of the Sword spoke first, and called for Salisbury to go to the continent, for glory and the pursuit of treasure.
  • While some of the older, more experienced knights wished for Earl Roderick to stay behind, fearing this was a foolhardy cause, Roderick agreed to go to war.

Frankland

  • At camp outside Bayeux, Sir Alaric overheard Madoc and his council. Madoc pledged that they would only stay for four weeks or one city - no more.
  • When he attempted to relay this information to Roderick, the Earl became cold and distant, telling the young knights that the Prince's words will remain private and to drop the matter.
  • During the siege, the Knights of the Sword identified a wagon carrying supplies into the city from sympathetic villages nearby, and were able to slay the Frankish soldiers guarding it. A celebration was held.
  • The assault on Bayeux was successful, and the Knights won great glory by charging the gates, laying waste to enemy troops (including multiple giants!) and assisting Irish Kern mercenaries with opening the gates of the city to complete the attack.
  • After the city was taken, British forces withdrew, with Madoc advising the dumbfounded Syagrius that he would render no further aid.
  • Word reached Salisbury a few weeks later that Syagrius had been defeated, and all of Soissons was now under the control of the Frankish King, Claudas. The Kingdom of Francia had been born.
