The party is tasked with traveling to a shrine in the mountains seeking a cure to a sickness plaguing the region.

Characters

  • Ryoshi - Amy M's character. Technical hunter with a fox companion. Locals consider her relationship with her fox auspicious and will give her a pass in some areas or regard her with some reverence.
  • Ikki - George's character. Magic healer/monk. Older. While respected for his religious position, many give him a wide berth due to some lecherous habits.
  • Hirotomi - Jeremy's character. Magic minstrel who plays the lute and flute. She is from Kinbarakz, a strange and foreign land, and is considered odd but friendly by the locals.
  • Pirro - Rob's character. Technical merchant who has an eye on the ledger. He is from the lands to the west and is looking to eventually establish a trade route if he finds the right goods.
  • Satsushi - Amy S's character. Technical artisan who works in glass and ice. Older. Locally famous for ice sculptures, and works with Hirotomi and her ice magic to create them.

Locations

Juichicho-gun

  • Tarama - Town with the White Fox Tavern, where the party starts. And elder of the Juichicho-gun finds the party in the White Fox Tavern and tasks them with the mission.
  • Nagara River - North-south river, flows south. Choppy rapids to the south (in the forest) prevent regular travel south.
  • Yamagata - Town northeast of the Tamara, on the Nagara river. It has the only well-maintained bridge in the area. Trade (to the north) and (some) fishing.

Misc

  • Kumotori - Mountains east of Juichicho-gun
  • Shine of Suijin - East of Juichicho-gun, set near/around springs in the Kumotori mountains.
  • Kinbarakz - Country of ice and snow and mountains to the northwest, where Hirotomi is from.

NPCs

Kami/spirits

  • Inari - Inari Okami or Oinari. Major kami of foxes, agriculture. industry, and prosperity. Known for using white foxes as messengers
  • Suijin - God of Water. Very popular, related to all forms of water, purification of water, creatures that live in the water, and fertility.

Juichicho region

  • Hosokawa Kan - Older woman - Elder of Tamara.

Session Log

Session One

Played on July 5th, 2017.

During a well-deserved revelry at the White Fox Tavern after the planting season, the party is recruited by Hosokawa Kan, Elder of the town. She explains that a sickness is afflicting many in the region, and that traditional healing arts have not been effective against it. The party is tasked with traveling to a shrine of Suijin in the east, where they will consult with the shrine attendants and seek the Sapphire Sage, an herb known for its mystical healing properties.

The party begins their journey east into the Taiheyo Forest on the next day. After an encounter with some sickly wolves and some slight detours, they find an abandoned house in the forest on the third day of their journey. They plan to make camp here, but first investigate a strange purple light. In the basement, Ryoshi and Ikki find a small bull with a fiery purple glow. It charges them, but after a short skirmish, they find they have cleansed a small toy cow of its evil aura by defeating a spirit of abandonment. Satisfied of its safety, they make camp in the abandoned house.
