== Personality ==
Uther is was a man of great ambition, and terrible flaws. Strong, cunning, and generous to those who prove proved themselves worthy, Uther engenders engendered much loyalty in many of his vassals. Still, his jealousy, lust, and foul temper threaten threatened to undo all his great works. Uther is was a somewhat lackluster Christian, and often consults consulted with [[Merlin, Archdruid of England]], who acts acted as one of the king's chief advisors.
== Important Deeds of Note ==
In [[452]] Uther sired his bastard son, [[Prince Madoc|Madoc ap Uther]], who was legitimized in [[488]]. Madoc was the heir apparent until his death at the hands of [[Duke Gorlois of Cornwall]] in [[491]].
In [[486]], Merlin gave Uther a most auspicious Christmas gift - the Sword of Victory, [[Excalibur]]! The [[CharactersCharacters_(Pendragon)#The Ursine Brotherhood|Ursine Brotherhood]] had assisted Merlin in the quest to find the sword, and Uther has watched the band of young knights ever since, intrigued by their tendency to be right in the thick of important deeds from that point on.
In [[487]], King Uther went on progress to secure the loyalty of some of his more troublesome vassals, starting with [[Duke Lindsey of Lincoln]]. The Ursine Brotherhood accompanied him on this quest, and later they were sent on a secondary diplomatic mission to [[Eberacum]] to meet with [[The Centurion King of Malahaut]].
Sadly, Gorlois was driven away by Uther's lust for Ygraine, and civil war was inevitable. By [[491]], Logres was at war with the Duchy of Cornwall. Madoc was slain by Gorlois at [[Terrabil]], but was avenged by the Ursine Brotherhood, who slew Gorlois. Uther entered a severe state of anguish after his son's death, much worsened by the sense of responsibility the king felt for starting the war over his lust in the first place. Still, Uther did marry Ygraine, the target of his carnal desires, and appears to already have sired another child with her.
In [[492]], Ygraine bore Uther a son, but the child was stolen by Merlin. The Ursine Brotherhood was tricked into providing a distraction for Merlin's escape and were tried for treason, though they were able to convince the court of their innocence and Uther declared that they were victims in this affair, not perpetrators.
In [[495]], King Uther led his troops in the battle of St. Albans. Uther had been ill for the past three years, ever since his child was stolen by Merlin. The battle was a great victory despite Uther's weakness, however, and a great feast was held to celebrate. The Saxons had poisoned the wine at St. Albans, however, and Uther was murdered by their treachery along with most of the nobles in England. Uther was buried at Stonehenge, between his brother, Aurelius Ambrosius, and his son, Madoc.
